Saif & Kareena doing a movie "QURBAAN"

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor had revealed to us some time ago that they are doing a flick called Jehaad with director Rensil D’Silva although the title of the movie was not officially declared, however Saif-Bebo will need to eat back their words ‘coz Rensil has officially named the movie Qurbaan.

A source says, “As soon as the title Qurbaan is made official, Karan and Rensil plan to call a press conference to correct the media perception that the film is called Jehaad. Since Kareena and Saif used Jehaad in all their interviews, it will take some time for Jehaad to get out of the public’s mind. They have made a gripping thriller on terrorism. The narration is taut and uninterrupted by Bollywood
formula like songs, dances and melodrama. Kareena and Saif have even done one of the boldest love sequences ever. “

Rensil also confirmed the news, “We did consider it but it is unlikely that we will call the film Jehaad. Karan and I need to sit down and talk about it, but he has gone off to Cannes.”

Karan Johar, producer of the movie was unavailable for a comment.

Sanjay Dutt in Supreme Court.

Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt who announced last month that he will fight the 2009 general elections from Lucknow seat on a Samajwadi Party ticket, on Thursday moved the Supreme Court seeking a stay on his conviction for possessing firearms, to enable him fight the forthcoming general elections. This plea is separate from another filed by Sanjay Dutt at the Supreme Court challenging his conviction, the Supreme Court has yet to adjudicate on it. Sanjay Dutt was convicted in the 1993 Mumbai Serial Blast Case to 6 years in jail by the anti-terror court.
Sanjay Dutt has sought parity with cricketer-turned-Bharatiya Janata Party parliamentarian Navjot Singh Sidhu, whose conviction in a case of unintentional killing was stayed by the apex court in 2007 to enable him run for elections. Te petion was filled by Advocate Gaurav Bhatia, who represented Sanjay Dutt, and the plea is to be heard on Friday. As per electoral laws, a person convicted for a criminal offence and sentenced to jail to more than 2 years in prison is barred from running for any elections.
Sanjay Dutt was arrested on July 31, 2007, when the Mumbai anti-terror court sentenced him to 6 years in jail. On Nov 27, 2007, the Supreme Court granted him bail, pending a decision on his plea against conviction.
Sanjay Dutt had pleaded that he has no criminal antecedents, he belonged to a family of well-known social servants, and his father representing North West Mumbai several times in the Lok Sabha. Sanjay Dutt Dutt also sought suspension of his conviction on the grounds that the United Nation had chosen him as Goodwill Ambassador on Malnutrition.
Sanjay Dutt while seeking parity with Navjot Singh Sidhu, said like he too was not accused of any serious or grave criminal antecedents. Navjot Singh Sidhu, was convicted by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in 2007 for unintentionally killing a person after a minor road accident. Navjot Singh Sidhu quit his Amritsar Lok Sabha seat and approached the apex court to seek suspension of his conviction to fight for the same seat in a by-poll, which was granted by the court.

Bollywood News : Knight Riders are likely to lose their Baadshah as their owner Shah Rukh Khan is planning to sell the team, according to a media report.

According to a ‘Business Standard’ report, SRK has started the discussions with companies like Nokia, Sahara and the Anil Ambani Group to sell the team he had bought last year for Rs 300 crore.
According to sources, SRK has been trying to sell a stake in KKR for a long time. But most companies wanted management control as well.
SRK wants to quit the business, owing to the team’s poor performance, according to a Red Chillies official. So far the team has won just one match in the tournament.
Showing his displeasure, Shah Rukh returned to India and sent a strong message to his team that said he would not return to South Africa unless the team performed better in the forthcoming matches and learnt from its mistakes.
“If my team continues to lose like this, I am not going back to South Africa. I will go only when they play well and win,” SRK said.
Rising costs are another reason for his withdrawal. The team has cost him Rs 300 crore for the next 10 years. The total annual cost for the team is about Rs 75 crore.
According to SRK, KKR made minimum profit of Rs 13 crore last year. However, his costs trebled last year owing to interventions from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) and Cricket Association of Bengal.
He had to pay Rs 90 lakh per match and was supposed to earn Rs 3 crore if all stadium tickets were sold at Eden Gardens. Red Chillies had to pay Rs 20 lakh to the police and municipal tax of Rs 5 lakh. So its expenses per match would have been over Rs 1 crore. But this figure had trebled.
Kolkata Police demanded Rs 2 crore as security fees, against Rs 50 lakh that the organisers of the IPL offered. SRK had to agree to pay Rs 75 lakh as security fees.
The Municipal Corporation (KMC) demanded Rs 25 lakh as amusement tax for holding IPL matches at Eden Gardens.
From dropping ‘Kolkata’ from the team’s name to giving the reins to Brendon McCullum, it remains to be seen if ‘King Khan’ will share the control with other bigwigs.

Gerard Butler proposes to Priyanka Chopra!

A hilarious Gerard Butler kept popping the question to Priyanka Chopra at the party especially hosted by her on Thursday night.

“I don’t mind marrying an Indian girl…too bad Priyanka already has a boyfriend,” those were the very words Gerard had said to a news daily just days after he arrived in India. But whether Priyanka has a boyfriend (who coincidentally is her neighbour as well) or not did not make much difference to the Scottish actor who was reportedly in extremely jolly mood at Priyanka’s late night party at her Versova residence.

Going by the reports of what happened at the party, it seems Butler and Priyanka have developed a remarkable bonhomie. So much that Butler didn’t mind proposing marriage to Priyanka repeatedly at the party, sometimes loudly enough to catch everyone’s notice.

But since it was done in good humour – or at least that’s how it appeared – Priyanka kept laughing away all the proposals from Gerard.
